I love roadtrips. Especially in new places and new countries. It’s just something special about having the open road ahead of you, with or without a destination.
I recently visited Iceland together with two other Swedish travel bloggers, Sofia and Katarina. We had our route planned before we arrived in the country, but there was still room for spontaniety. As any roadtrip should have. Because even though you can find plenty of information and inspiration online or in guidebooks, you can never really be sure of what you might stumle upon while you’re driving with the open road ahead of you.
A roadtrip is about finding yourself
To me, a roadtrip is about finding yourself. Or at least a part of yourself. It’s about finding freedom and finding magic in the most unexpected things. It’s about letting everything go and just live in the moment and it’s about seeing what’s right in front of you. Our week in Iceland took us to amazing (my new favourite word) waterfalls, untouched nature and beautiful landscapes. We experienced magic nights with Northern Lights above us during two nights in a row and we soaked in the hot springs in Landmannalaugar. We found so many waterfalls during our time, some more beautiful than others.
We saw so many amazing things while in Iceland and I have so many photographs from our time there. It’s hard to tell the story in just one blog post, which is why I will show you in photographs instead. But these photographs are far from all I’ve got. You can definitely look forward to seeing more of Iceland here in the coming weeks.
While you look through my photographs, do press play on the song below. I had no idea during the time that I put together a short Spotify playlist for our trip, that this song would become the soundtrack of it. It’s been one of my favourite songs for a while now, even before I heard Lauren sing it live in Nashville earlier this year. And it’s just the perfect song to sum up our trip.
If you trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle
Don’t be afraid, take the road less traveled
Wear out your boots and kick up the gravel
Don’t be afraid, take the road less traveled on
A Photo Diary from Iceland
A place where horses roam free and sheeps graze the land. Where seals soak up the sun and where you can feel alive. Where you can be wild and free!
